# How do I update my router's firmware?

## **Maintain a secure & reliable home network by keeping your router’s firmware up to date.**

Firmware is the software that controls your router, and manufacturers regularly release updates to fix bugs, patch security vulnerabilities, and improve performance.


The firmware for Plume SuperPods are **updated automatically** overnight when the network isn't busy. While they **cannot be updated manually**, you can check the firmware version to confirm everything is up to date.
* **Open the Plume Home app** on your smartphone device.
* Tap on **Network** and scroll down to the **Extenders** section of the Connectivity tab.
* Tap on any of your pods and then the **View details **button.
Your **current firmware version will be displayed **along with the serial number, MAC address, and IP.
