Can I suspend my Cogeco service?

Note: If you have an 11-digit Cogeco account number starting with a 5 or 6, you'll use My Account to manage your services. Get support content for using My Account. If you have a different account number, you'll use the Client Portal steps covered in this article.

Yes, you can. With our seasonal suspension option, you can pause your internet service and put your billing on hold for up to 6 months at a time. This is a great solution if you're away from home for an extended period, such as during the winter.

Why Choose Seasonal Suspension Instead of Cancelling?

  • No need to return your equipment: Keep your modem and other equipment ready for when you return.
  • Easier reactivation: We can get your services up and running again much faster than if you were to re-subscribe.
  • Keep your current price: New customer pricing and plans can change. Suspending your service ensures you can return to the exact same price and package you had before.

How much does it cost?

Pricing is based on the cost the network provider for your area charges (the owner of the internet line connected to your home).

  • Vidéotron: $30.00 + tax

If auto-payment is enabled, this amount will be charged to your card on file instantly upon making the request.

If auto-payment is disabled, this amount will be invoiced to your account and must be paid via your Client Portal before your start date.

How to Request a Seasonal Suspension

To set up a seasonal suspension, please contact our Customer Service team. You'll need to provide the following information:

  • Confirm your account balance is at $0.
  • The start date of your suspension.
  • The end date of your suspension (when you'd like your service reactivated).

Please note that a seasonal suspension cannot be longer than 6 months. If a suspension is extended past this period, your service will be cancelled, and all equipment must be returned. Extensions may be granted under some circumstances. Additional suspension fees may apply.
