Modem Replacement Guide

Received a new modem from us?

Ready to set up your new modem? Let's walk you through the process so you can get back to enjoying your speedy internet!

Why You Might Have a New Modem

Technology Advances: To ensure you have the best possible performance, we've sent you our latest equipment.

Technical Issues:If your old modem was giving you trouble, this new one is here to provide a smooth, reliable connection.

Step 1: Before You Start, Contact Us

  • Customer Care: The first and most important step is to connect with our customer care team. We need to officially activate your new modem and update our records before you can get online.

If you received a new modem due to a technological advancement or if your previous modem was physically damaged, ask for assistance from our customer care team to activate the new modem.

If you received a new modem because of an ongoing technical issue, ask for our technical support team so they can activate the new modem and conduct any necessary diagnostics testing or monitoring afterwards.

Step 2: Disconnect Your Current Modem

  • Disconnect: Once it has been confirmed that your new modem is activated, unplug your old modem from the power source. Remove the coaxial cable and Ethernet cables from the old modem as well.

Step 3: Connecting Your New Modem

  • Connecting the Coaxial Cable: Attach the coaxial cable to your modem, then verify that this connection is tight. It must be for a reliable internet connection.
  • Power Up: Plug the power cord into your new modem and then into an outlet. Wait for the lights on the modem to become solid, which signals it's ready to go.

Step 4: Connect the Plume SuperPod

  • Connect your router: Use an Ethernet cable to connect your modem to the Plume SuperPod.
  • Plug in your Plume SuperPod: Plug in your router and wait anywhere from 5-7 minutes as it boots up.

You may see your available WiFi network appear once the router is back online, just as long as you are using the same router as before and a network had been set up on it previously. If your router has also been replaced or was never able to be set up, you will need to do those steps at this stage.

Step 5: Test Your Connection

  • Test: Now that everything is connected, it's time to test your new service! Try browsing the web, streaming a video, or downloading a file to make sure everything is working as it should.

Step 6: If You Get Stuck, We're Here to Help

• If you run into any issues during the setup process, don't worry. Our Technical Support team is on standby and ready to assist.
